Operations in the Middle East
Firstdrill's personnel are highly experienced in the Middle East, in both onshore and offshore projects and the Company is in the process of opening a new office in Dubai. Currently Firstdrill is in active discussions regarding projects across the region, which range from total Project Management to providing teams of specialists.
IRAQI EXPERIENCE
Firstdrill’s experience in Iraq goes back a
number of years where the present Chairman of
Firstdrill was employed as a member of Iraq Petroleum Company’s
drilling department. At that time IPC and associated companies were
responsible for drilling and production operations in the whole of Iraq
and the Arabian Gulf Counties of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and
the Oman. In more recent times, Firstdrill
has worked in Iraq with Iraqi Drilling Company, a member of the Ministry
of Oil in Baghdad. Our work in Iraq primarily consisted of providing
technical input in the preparation of drilling tenders for wells to be
drilled in Iraq. In addition to working in Baghdad, members of
Firstdrill have also worked with the Missan
Oil Company in the Missan Province of Iraq.
EXPERIENCE IN THE CASPIAN REGION
Firstdrill has been associated with the Caspian region since 1996 where we undertook our first project drilling the land well Muradhkanli no. 1. The company has been involved in the region ever since and apart from operational experience, we have a wide contact base at all levels of seniority in the region. More recently Firstdrill has completed drilling the Centralnaya 1 Russian Sector (Caspian Sea) well using the Semi Submersible Maersk Explorer, drilling for LLC "CentreCaspneftegaz". Firstdrill provided full project management, well engineering and drilling support for the drilling and testing of this exploration discovery well.
IRANIAN EXPERIENCE
Although Firstdrill as a company has not yet performed operations in Iran, our personnel do have prior experience of this region before joining the Company. Our Managing Director worked in Iran and has a good knowledge of this area, operating there with BP on the following fields in the South Area:

- Rag-I-Safid
- Pazanan
- Bibi Hakimeh
