Current Operations
Caspian Operations
We are currently a shareholder in (ADC) Joint Venture Target Petroleum, SOCAR and Firstdrill in Azerbaijan. Firstdrill supplies the Joint Venture with the sole project management. We are currently developing 3 ex-Soviet platforms. These Platforms are being equipped with 2000 HP drilling units. Firstdrill are providing Drilling Engineering Management for all these platforms, including procurement of Drilling Equipment, installation of equipment and supply of Rig personnel. And is solely responsible for the execution of the drilling of these wells. These challenging wells range from 3,800-6,200m, one well to 6000m is a HPHT.
India Operations.
Firstdrill are currently drilling a 2nd well for Gazprom in the Bay of Bengal. Firstdrill is responsible for the total Project Management from Rig acceptance, to final close out.
Middle East Operations.
Firstdrill are in the final tendering process for Drilling 15 Wells to depth of 4000m. Supplying of all third party services required for the efficient well test and completion of these projects including logistics and security. Firstdrill will be responsible for total Project Management until final close out.
Russian Operations.
In late 2007, Firstdrill began the drilling of one well in the Caspian Sea for CenterCaspneftegaz which is the operator for the Centralnaya Structure concession exploration programme. The Well is being drilled in 462m of water using the MODU Maersk explorer. Firstdrill is providing project management and rig support services for this challenging rank exploration well. The Firstdrill team completed all pre-engineering in Moscow and the project is being managed from Moscow with a local area support being performed from Makhachkala, Dagestan.
UK Operations.
Firstdrill are currently drilling the 2nd well for Midmar Energy in the Brockham field onshore UK. Firstdrill is responsible for the total Project Management from Rig acceptance to final close out.
Vietnam Operations.
Firstdrill completed drilling the 2nd well in Bac Bo Bay for VietGazprom offshore Vietnam. The first well drilled for VietGazprom was drilled $4 million under budget. Firstdrill was responsible for the total Project Management from Rig acceptance to final close out including contracts, well engineering, operational management, financial and procurement support. This operation was managed from Hanoi and the wells were drilled with the Neptune Discoverer, a turret mounted conventionally moored drillship.
Namibia Operations
Firstdrill is currently providing total Project Management services for Sintezneftegaz Namibia Ltd, for the drilling of a deepwater exploration well in Block 1711, Namibia, West Africa; the well is being drilled from a drillship in a water depth exceeding 700m.
Firstdrill's involvement is the complete management of the project on the client's behalf as the intermediary between client and service companies to ensure efficient and successful operations. All pre-engineering was conducted by the Firstdrill team in addition to supporting operations and conducting contract and procurement services.
Hungary Operations
Firstdrill is currently providing management and supervisory services for Matra Petroleum PLC and Blue Star, which is a Joint Venture between Matra PLC and Hungarian Horizon. The drilling operations include well testing on 2 gas wells that were drilled in 2007, using a work over rig. Furthermore, the drilling of 2 new vertical exploration wells, 1600m and 1800m deep, including testing and completion as required.
Total spend will be around $7 to $8 million. The drilling preparation work includes AFEs, all service and rig contracts, design and permitting of wells, writing of drilling programmes, selection and building of sites and acting as drilling management and supervisory during the actual drilling operations.
